I haven’t been able to wash my right hand since around 9am on Thursday 6th May. Quite gross but entirely necessary. I’m simply not allowed to get it wet while the stitches heal. They’re coming out this Friday but I don’t think I’ll be able to wash my hand for another week or two. I managed to wash my fingers carefully a few times.
I have to put a plastic bag over my hand when I’m in the bath and stick my arm out over the side to keep it away from the splashes. I also have a bag to put over it sometimes when I’m out in case it rains.
I think my hand looks like a cross between one belonging to a zombie and a mummy. I can’t wait to get this big bandage off on Friday – it’s getting quite grubby now (and sweaty) which really bothers me. I don’t want to think how many germs are lurking on it. My hand will then go into a brace for another 4 weeks.
